The skill of induction is a very important skill, and one that we use on a daily basis. Nevertheless, it is one that can easily get us into trouble if we are not careful as well. Consider the five traps of induction and write a paragraph or two defining induction, elaborating on how you have used it and also write about one of the two topic options below:

Option 1

1- How you may have fallen victim to one or more of these traps in the past?

2- Explain how you would avoid them in the future based on what you have learned in this chapter?

Option 2

3- What major world problems might you attribute to one of the traps of induction?

4- What can we do as individual citizens and/or a nation to try to avoid them in the future?

Grading Criteria

NOTE: Your answer(s) to the discussion topic or question(s) is 60% of the grade for this discussion board and your responses to at least four other students make up an additional 20%! You must participate in the discussion on at least 2 separate days for the final 20% of this discussion grade. Answers to discussion question(s) or topic(s) should be at least 100 words in length unless otherwise specified and responses to classmates should be at least 40 words each.

Introduction

The purpose of this assignment is to help you recognize and avoid the traps inherent in using the skill of evaluation. This assignment supports or fulfills the following module objective:

1. Name and describe the traps involved in using the skill of evaluation and expain ways to avoid these traps.

The Assignment

From chapter five, consider the potential traps involved in using the skill of evaluation and write a one or more page essay that discusses which ones you feel you may have fallen victim to in the past. Feel free to share funny stories, as some of these situations can be a bit humorous in hindsight. How would you avoid these traps in the future? Are there any that you worry may still give you trouble? Write your essay in number 12 Ariel or Times New Roman font, double spaced, using MLA format. Your essay must be one full page, but feel free to write more if necessary.

Grading Criteria Content (the accuracy of what you say in the essay and how much you say) 85%

Format (must be in MLA format to include having a works cited page) 10%

Grammar (spelling, punctuation, word usage, sentence structure, etc.) 5%
