Workshop 7: Multi-voting or Nominal Group Technique
The tools practiced in this workshop are:
· Brainstorming
· Multi-voting
· Nominal group technique
Situation:
Consider that you/your group works for the City of Houston Food bank. In the Improve phase of your Lean Six Sigma project, you need to identify methods for increasing donations and volunteers. So, you decide to creatively brainstorm ideas for motivating the public with the assistance of some of your friends, classmates, family, etc. The brainstorming session is not an individual exercise so start early! Then, you will use multi-voting or nominal group technique to determine the idea(s)/solution(s) you will implement in your organization to solve the problem.
Instructions:
Use information from your training manual in Improve Phase – Lessons 5-6 to assist you with the activities that follow. Be sure to follow the “best practices” for each tool you use in this workshop.
Activities:
1. Describe the brainstorming method/approach you used in this Workshop AND identify those who participated in your brainstorming activities: This is not a hypothetical question. (NGT or Multi-voting are NOT brainstorming techniques.)
2. List your ideas/potential solutions to motivate the public based on your brainstorming activities, labeling each with a unique identifier: You must come up with a minimum of 12 ideas.

3. Show the details of your work using multi-voting or nominal group technique to determine the idea(s)/solution(s) you will implement in your organization: Use only one of these tools for the assignment. Use at least 12 ideas from Activity 2 for Multi-voting or NGT.
